Santa Claus is about to be coming down more roads than just Santa Claus Lane.
Tomorrow night, Jolly Old St. Nicholas will be traveling down almost every road in Thorsby for the fire department’s Santa Run.
This annual tradition by the Thorsby Fire Department is something everyone enjoys.
“It’s something the whole community looks forward to every year,” said firefighter Lance Hilyer.
The Santa Run is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. and end around 7:30 p.m. Like last year, there will be two routes running at the same time. One route begins on the east side of the railroad tracks at Third Street. The second route covers the west side of town and begins at West Medical Center Drive.
The whole route with projected times is available for residents to view at Town Hall or at the fire department.
Town officials urge anyone who is inquiring about the run’s route to call Town Hall at 646-3575 or the fire department at 646-3275.
“Please do not call 911 to get information about the Santa Run,” Hilyer said.
If it is raining on the night of the Santa Run, Santa will be available to visit with residents at the fire station from 6-7 p.m.
If it starts raining during the run, the fire department will return to the station, and Santa will be available for an additional hour.
Also, fire department officials emphasized that the Santa Run will only be held if there is no emergency call during the evening on Christmas Eve.
“Our fire engines are emergency vehicles. If we get an emergency call during the run, we must respond to the emergency call,” Hilyer added.
